Supporting Café Notos’ Commitment to the 1% for the Planet programme

As a café that wanted sustainability to be at the core of who they are, it was vital that we developed relationships with suppliers, staff and local environmental organisations to build something real and impactful that customers could see and feel. More recently Notos wanted to go a step further by formally committing 1% of their annual sales revenue to grassroots environmental organisations via the 1% for the Planet programme. Notos needed support aligning their existing sustainability efforts with 1% for the Planet’s network, selecting meaningful partners, managing their giving & membership, and communicating their commitment with authenticity.

As well as working with Cafe Notos from its inception on supplier sustainability credentials & packaging alternatives, our work with the cafe on its 1% for the Planet commitments centred around supporting organisations that fit the values and beliefs of Notos and its customers. To do this we engaged staff to understand what Notos means to them and created relationships with Environmental Partners that are creating impact in areas that are important to the brand. 

Being an independent, local cafe reinforced the desire for Notos to partner with organisations that could work in partnership and where support went much further than a simple, hands-off donation. As a result we have worked hard with Notos to engage in conversations with the partners they have supported as well as championing their causes further within the cafe through events & communications with cafe-goers.

• Café Notos successfully joined & certified for 2024 as 1% for the Planet business member.
• Notos has built partnerships with grassroots environmental partners: Tir Natur, Protect the West Coast, and Protect our Winters UK.
• Continuous packaging improvements to reduce waste.
